Our Vision

The vision of Restoration Passage is to provide affordable and accessible Christian life and marriage coaching with Biblical insight for issues that may not be well addressed throughout local Christian churches and pastoral staff. These issues include but are not limited to sexuality, gender identity, sexual abuse, addictions, and compulsive behaviors. Services are available to church ministry staff as well as members regardless of denominational affiliations.

Our Definition of Coaching Services

Coaching services provide clients with an ongoing partnership with clients throughout seasons of life where a change desired or additional support needed for recovery. Defining the scope of coaching tends to vary, but the consensus is that coaching is more directive and confrontational, rather than supportive and affirming. For example, coaches often come from backgrounds of corporate business experience so that they can offer their expertise to business clients based on what they have learned. Sheri Golden’s background is strongly rooted biblical teachings and the leading of the Holy Spirit through prayer. Insight given to clients is based on Sheri’s life experience working in local church leadership with sexual concerns, gender identity, spiritual growth, and Christian mentoring.

Segments of life that are often the focus of desired change or support include the following:

• spiritual guidance, instruction, direction
• career pursuits
• marriage relationships
• parenting concerns
• gender role conflicts
• addiction recovery maintenance

Coaching Versus Mental Health Counseling

Coaching is not appropriate when there is a diagnosable mental illness or other forms of pathological illness and clients should be referred to mental health professionals. There are times when coaching can provide a source of adjunctive support to mental health counseling. If mental health needs are present during the course of the coaching relationship, referrals to an appropriate mental health service provider will be given to the client.

There are no license requirements for becoming a life coach or professional mentor. There are organizations that provide training and ethical guidelines for Christian life coaches; however, Restoration Passage is not currently affiliated with any professional or Christian life coaching organizations. Restoration Passage does adhere to an ethics code that is available for viewing and download through this site.
